Callus / Corns

Callus is a common dermatological condition characterised by the thickening of the skin on the feet. It often occurs in response to chronic pressure or friction and is most commonly found on the soles of the feet and areas that bear weight. Corns occur for the same reason but are generally due to a more specific pressure area which causes a cone like shape deeper into the skin which may feel like a stone under your foot.

Callus/Corns can develop for various reasons, including ill-fitting shoes, high levels of physical activity, or abnormalities in foot structure. The condition can present as yellowish or discoloured areas of hardened skin, which can become painful and even crack over time, leading to potential complications.

Our experienced podiatrists are well-versed in diagnosing and managing callus and corns effectively. We offer a range of treatments, including professional debridement to safely remove thickened skin, orthotics/padding to redistribute pressure, and expert advice on proper footwear to reduce friction. Our goal is to provide you with personalised care that not only addresses the existing calluses but also helps prevent their recurrence.
